Street Photography
When we are at school or work, sometimes life gets repetitive and boring, dealing with same people same place same routine all the time. That’s not the life I want, so every now and then I’ll grab my camera and go out shooting. It’s hard to get enough time for a travel frequently, thus street photography becomes my favorite activity and best way to relax.
For simplicity, I take only my camera with me while hanging out. Sometimes I listen to music to immerse myself in a particular mood, which is super effective to shoot with a certain topic. Most of the time I just observe and listen, finding interesting instants to capture. The best thing about street photography is, I feel myself tightly connected with the real world, highly sensitive to happenings all around, and all those details I could never notice comes into my mind, as if the world is talking to me. All the trifles and worries in life just gone away, and my mind turns clear and peaceful because of concentration.
I shoot whatever attracts me. Buildings, signs, roads, sceneries…, maybe they are beautiful, or just have something intriguing. I especially favor shooting people. Despite the fast pace of modern life, people find their own cure and that’s what I’m looking for. Seeing their faces and poses just makes me wonder what’s behind them, how do they feel, why are they doing so. Find something unique, capture it, and imagine the stories behind, this is often what happens to me when I press the shutter. The process is so enjoyable that I can saunter around for hours and suddenly get awake by extraordinary thirsty or hungry.
I really love street photography, and I owe my passion to the nature of human beings - curiosity. I feel myself too busy dealing with all the must-dos and meaningless issues. Those things deprive my opportunities to feel the world and experience life with heart. Street photography makes it up to me and brings back my curiosity, offers me sensation and emotions. Through every picture I take there is a link built between me and the item or people, which gives me feelings of that moment. To me street photography is more of the experiences, the emotions and memories. It is not whether I take a “good picture” that matters so much, but the things behind it.
Sometimes I take selfies too, to keep special memory of that moment. It occurs mostly when I’m zesty. Whenever I see the photo, it suddenly reminds me of that time, like a “checkpoint”. They are all treasures of my life.
Life is busy, don’t forget photography!
